The first post of this blog is
about a conference which could be highly interesting for all those exercise
physiologists whose interests focus on the impact of the environmental
stressors on human and sport performance.
The XV International
Conference on Environmental Ergonomics (ICEE 2013) will take place in Queenstown,
New Zealand next February (11-15th).
The
ICEE series started in 1984, and continues as a biennial meeting of
Environmental Physiology and Ergonomics researchers and some research-oriented
practitioners. These are small (100-250 people), single session, multi-disciplinary
meetings, which support student participation and foster camaraderie and
collaboration among scientists across the planet. Keynote and Original Research
Oral and Poster Communications focus on:
·
New research findings on humans’ acute and
chronic exposure to environmental stressors; from high altitude to diving, the
tropics to the poles, extreme gravitational loading to space and bed rest
·
Implications of and for sporting, recreational
and occupational pursuits
·
Implications of and for protective clothing,
modelling, novel methodologies, design and teaching
Special symposia in 2013:
·
Climatic Instability: Adaptation and/or
avoidance
·
Ultra-endurance and Tracking
·
Hydration
·
Novel stress conditioning in performance
and disease
