Combat sports and recovery: How do you deal with haematomas?

It’s about time to get this blog more interactive.

Therefore the question of today is:

As a sport scientist, physiotherapist, coach or fighter, how do you deal with the re absorption of the haematomas resulting from combat sport training? What do you do to help your body recovering and getting ready for the next training session?

I personally practice Kyokushinkai (full contact) Karate and I have found that, to recover from localized hematomas resulting from e.g. sparring work, applying ice (straight after training) and performing light aerobic exercise (the next morning) works well to me.

What would you suggest to do / what do you usually do to speed the recovery up?
